Register for Classes

Registration procedure for Visiting/Exchange students:

  1. Check the course catalog for courses offered at Gallaudet University. Write down the classes you would like to take. Please check the pre-requisites to see if you meet all requirements for enrollment.
  2. Check the course schedules in your Bison account to see if the courses you want are available. Refer to the instructions below on how to perform a course search.
  3. If permission is required for a class, send an email to the professor (i.e. firstname.lastname@gallaudet.edu), requesting permission to enroll. If permission is granted, forward the message to Visiting/Exchange Student advisor, Steven Snow at steven.snow@gallaudet.edu.
  4. Complete the Visiting Student Course Selection Form and send the form attached to steven.snow@gallaudet.edu . If you have a difficult time sending the form via email, please save the form to your desktop so that you can fill out and fax the form to me. The fax number is (202) 651-5759.
  5. Spaces cannot be guaranteed for visiting students. Your request for classes will be processed on a first-come first-served basis. You will receive an official copy of your class schedule when you meet with Steven Snow.
  6. On the first day of classes you will complete business registration by paying tuition and fees and getting your student ID.

Instructions for Basic Class Search


To do a Basic Class Search for available courses and sections, you should visit http://bison.gallaudet.edu and follow these instructions:
  1. Click on the third tab, 'Course Catalog and Schedule'
  2. Click on 'Course Catalog and Schedule' hyperlink
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select "View Schedule of Classes".
  4. Enter appropriate Term code (1063)and click on "Basic Search"
  5. Enter the Subject and Catalog Number of the course you would like to take, leaving the box "Open Classes only" checked.
  6. Click on "Search"
This will allow you to see which sections of that class have available seats. You may also use this process at the start of the semester to find out where the course will meet.
