What becomes of everyone?

As I sit here in my chair in the Ballard West RA office, I have some time on my hands and observe the lobby that's often full of life, with freshman seated on the lounge chairs and couches, chatting, goofing around, and discussing what to do tonight.

It's so fun to watch them, and to wonder what will happen to them. The freshmen dorms are unique gathering places, of which Gallaudet students often remniscince positively about, remembering staying up till 3 am chatting and ordering pizza or chinese food late at night. I've never had a freshman experience at Gallaudet, but I've talked with my friends and they've mentioned how their crowds have changed immensely throughout the years. During their freshman year, they were a big family, gathering in the lobby and chatting. As the years go by, students find their own crowd of friends.

wow. recently i became deaf in my left ear. i began to study the deaf culture. as i began to learn ASL, i feel in love with everything this world has to offer the deaf person. my ASL coach says i still have much study to do, and after a breif visit i took to Gallaudet, i understand why she would say that. while i will always be a stranger to ASL, every day my love for the laguage grows stronger. just the emotion you can see from these students towards the school is amazing. since i began to learn ASL, i see the world in a whole new light. and its beautiful. Thank you.
