Crayoning the town pink...

I recently came across this quote by Robert Fulghum-

"Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon. A happiness weapon. A beauty bomb. And every time a crisis developed, we would launch one. It would explode high in the air - explode softly - and send thousands, millions, of little parachutes into the air. Floating down to earth - boxes of Crayolas. And we wouldn't go cheap, either - not little boxes of eight. Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in. With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and lime, amber and umber and all the rest. And people would smile and get a little funny look on their faces and cover the world with imagination. "

It just makes me think - where has our sense of childhood, of simplicity gone?

We're too worried about economy, commerce, and the like to really stop and think about what goes on in our daily lives. If we all just carried around an 8-pack of Crayons and doodled whenever we felt like it, the world would be better.

We could also spread the joy by putting a little yellow sun in the corner of your homework for your professor to see. A owl on a post-it hidden in your friend's pocket.

That could definitely do something for us. How many times have each of us spent a day running around, thinking of applications to fill out, of assignments yet uncompleted, and of meetings to attend? If we found little surprises like that, think of how much our mood could instantly change.

I may be feeling nostalgic, but I think I'm going to go to the bookstore first thing tomorrow morning to buy a pack of Crayons. I've got nothing to lose.

I loved this idea. You've got a great way of looking at the world.
Hey, I'm a mom getting ready to send my daughter off to school there in the fall and want to get your opinion about life there as a student. Anything you want to share? Thanks.
