every little absence is an age...
I was absent at the moment I took up the most space.

Very true, very true. I realize now with my absence from blogging, and everyone pestering me to blog, that I only blog when I have some things to talk about, or some topics I want to run away with from the top of my head. All my previous blogs take up much more space than I actually realize, and I only notice when I'm not blogging how much I have to say about specific things that might not actually relate to my current and present life, or the Gallaudet mini-orb of society, so hey-ho, why not?
Samuel Johnson once wrote, "very slender differences will sometimes part those whom long reciprocation of civility or beneficence has united." This is true for a lot of things. Specifically, I think it works really well when we're talking about the Student Body Government at Gallaudet. Our SBG is one of the most interesting organizations you can get involved with here in Bisonland. The slender differences in our SBG are indeed slender, but quite obvious to the insider, because they represent divisions in opinion, divisions in ethical perspective, divisions in outlook, divisions in action, and divisions in passion. I am currently the Parliamentarian for the Legislative Branch, which means I go to all of the Student Congress meetings (every other Wednesday at 7:30 pm in LN-11, visitors are welcome) and ensure that the meetings follow the proper parliamentary procedure. While this may not sound very interesting, it keeps me in the loop of a lot of paradoxical background stuff that most Gallaudetians never get to see. I have been heavily involved with SBG throughout my Gallaudet career, and have served in every capacity imaginable, except for paper-pusher and glorified gopher, but you get the idea. If you ever stop by Gallaudet, or are in the area, come on over to the SBG office. I'll give you a tour- our offices are pretty sparse, and I have to admit that the Legislative Branch's door is open more than any other door in the office, which is why we need more good people to run the Executive Branch side of SBG. Our current Executive Branch leaves something to be desired (an understatement), but with Election Week coming up soon we will be able to vote, as always, for whoever we think can prop his or her Skechers, Keds, Vans (hooray for West Coasters) or, god forbid, $600 Manolos on the President's desk.
I really do have a lot I can say about the SBG, so if you have any questions about the current adminstration or how things work, feel free to comment and I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can.
I'll be blogging here and there as topics enter my brain, and I think of them. I'm back and I'm here to stay, because it just feels better having something for y'all to read, folks! Over and out.
P.S., you can check our absolutely pitiful example for a webpage at http://sbg.gallaudet.edu. You won't be impressed, but why not become our next Director of Public Relations, and get an astounding graphic design student who specializes in web design to redo the website? Ok, I'm really over and out
